Spinach Poriyal/Spinach Stir Fry

  1. Spinach    1 bunch (washed and chopped finely)
  2. Onion     1medium (finely chopped)
  3. Dry red chillies    1-2 no. (broken)
  4. Mustard seeds     1/2 tsp
  5. Chana dal     2 tsp
  6. Thoor dal/Tuvar Dal    1/4 cup(cooked but not mushy)
  7. Turmeric powder   a small pinch
  8. Salt      as needed
  9. Oil     2 tsp

  • Wash and finely chop the spinach and keep aside.
  • Cook thoor dal with turmeric powder but not mushy tender n cooked dal is enough.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds allow to splutter .
  • And add chana dal fry till golden brown, then add the dry chillies and chopped onions.
  • Fry the onion lightly and add the chopped spinach .
  • Add a pinch of turmeric powder n keep stirring the not close it with lid and no need to add water.
  • Spinach itself will ooze water and get cooked soon within 3-4 minutes.
  • Lastly add the cooked thoor dal , enough salt and stir gently.
  • Its the spinach poriyal is ready to serve.

If u want u can also add 2 tbsp shredded coconut in the end along with salt but adding dal will give gud taste and a healthy choice too.
And u can also add both dal n coconut.
while stirring the spinach if u feel too moisture drain the excess water and add the water to ur sambar, rasam or add it to the chapathi dough while u knead.
