Dosa-Cone dosa & Carrot Dosa

   I use the same idly /dosa batter for dosa also. The above dosa made using idly batter only. But have tried dosa with separate batter which is given below. With this recipe u can make perfect dosa batter which gives u crispy and tasty dosa.
  1. Idly rice  3 cups
  2. Urad dal   3/4 cup
  3. Methi seeds   1 tsp
  4. Channa dal   1-2 tbsp
  • soak everything for about 4-5 hrs.
  • Grind to a smooth batter (rava like consistency,rice should not be grinded too smooth)
  • To the batter add enough salt and mix well (use hands) and make the batter little thinner and keep it in warm place.
  • Allow it to ferment for 6-8hrs.
  • After fermenting mix the batter well n its now ready to make dosa.
Cone Dosa 

     This is not a variety of dosa ..simply the shape and presentation attracts people..particularly Kids. My kids always ask me Cone dosa only.

Heat a tawa, Pour a ladle of batter and spread it as thin as possible drizzle oil or ghee all around and close the tawa with lid for a minute..then open the lid, cut crispy dosa from the centre (radially) to one end using the spatula and roll it as a cone.

Mini Dosa for Kids
Carrot Dosa   
     Carrot dosa is for kids , if they are not taking carrot or any veg, u try to give them in this way,My mom use to do like this .i like carrot dosa now my kids also :)                                                     
  1. Carrot   1 no.(shredded)
  2. Batter  as needed.
  • Heat a iron tawa or non stick pan , pour a laddle of batter and spread it in circular motion.
  • Sprinkle the shredded carrot all over the dosa ,add oil 
  • Cover it with a lid (Aavi dosai) for 1 minute and flip the dosa carefully.
  • After a minute ,remove it from the tawa n serve hot with any chutney or sambar.
