Kondakkadalai sundal / Channa sundal / Chickpeas sundal


Kondakadalai Sundal is one of the easy neivedyam and is made on all special occasions like, vinayagar Chaturthi, Krishna Jayanthi, Saraswathi Pooja, Navarathri n many more special days. Not only on special days u can make this sundal daily for your tea time snack, as its a very healthy n filling snack. I usually make twice or thrice in a week with different legumes.

Ingredients
  1. channa/kondakadalai    1cup
  2. onion          1 small size
  3. green chillies   2no.s
  4. ginger   small piece
  5. curry leaves   few
  6. mustard seeds  1/2 tsp
  7. chana dal   1/2 tsp
  8. urad dal  1/2 tsp
  9. hing powder  1/4 tsp
  10. turmeric powder  pinch
  11. coriander leaves   few (optional)
  12. oil   2tsp

Method
  • Soak channa for atleast 5-6 hrs or over night.
  • After soaking pressure cook it for 2 whistles.Chop onions ,green chillies and ginger finely.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds ,when they pop add chana dal,urad dal,and fry  till golden brown
  • Add chopped onions curry leaves,ginger,green chillies and hing powder.saute for few minutes
  • then add cooked channa,turmeric powder and salt as needed.
  • Stir fry and now add shredded coconut( if using) and stir fry well.
  • That's it..Chickpeas sundal  ready.(Garnish with some chopped coriander leaves)
without coconut


Note:
Add salt while you pressure cook the channa, if its less add while sauteing
If u want u can also add some shredded coconut at the end . and also u can squeeze half lime after u turn off your stove and mix well .
