Stuffed Buns / Spicy Gobi Stuffed Buns / Spicy Cauliflower Stuffed Buns


      Long long ago i tried this savory stuffed buns with cauliflower masala . Like my previous baking attempt this was also successful and am happy to share this here . I took Rak's Kitchen's recipe for dough preparation and prepared stuffing to my choice. Now to this interesting recipe...

Ingredients
For the bun dough
  1. All Purpose Flour     1 and 1/2 cup
  2. Salt    3/4 tsp
  3. Sugar    1 tbsp
  4. Instant Yeast    3/4 tbsp( i used Fleischmann's Highly Active yeast)
  5. Olive oil    3 tbsp
  6. Milk    1/4 cup

Method
  • Sift the flour and add it to a mixing bowl.
  • Add salt , sugar and yeast mix well and then add 2 tbsp oil and mix well.
  • Now add milk and using enough water knead it to stiff dough.
  • Again now add another tbsp oil and knead the dough for 7-8 minutes  to a soft, smooth and pliable dough.
  • Then cover the bowl with a plastic wrap and set aside in warm place for 45 minutes - 1 hour. 

Meanwhile prepare Gobi stuffing
Ingredients
  1. Cauliflower florets   1 cup
  2. Onion   1 medium  (finely chopped)
  3. Tomato   1/2 (finely chopped)
  4. Chilli powder     1/2 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder    a pinch
  6. Garam Masala    1/4 tsp
  7. Cilantro    few finely chopped
  8. Salt    to taste
  9. Oil     1-2 tsp
  10. Fennel seeds    1/2 tsp
Method
  • Heat oil in pan, add fennel seeds and allow it to splutter.
  • Then add finely chopped onions and saute until it turns translucent.
  • After that add, tomatoes and saute till it turns soft.
  • Now add cauliflower florets stir fry for a minute and chilli n turmeric powder,enough salt and stir fry for a minute.
  • Then close it with a lif and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • And add garam masala powder and stir fry the cauliflower for 2 minutes or until the moisture dries up.
  • Lastly add some cilantro and turn off the stove.
That's it..spicy Gobi filling is ready for stuffing and allow this cool for a while.
How to make Stuffed Buns With Spicy Gobi filling:

  • By an hour, the dough must have doubled in its size, punch down the air out and again knead for few minutes.
  • Then divide the dough in to 6 equal portion and place it on a greased baking tray and again cover the tray with plastic wrap and allow it to rise for another 20-25 minutes.
  • After that, take one ball and press gently press in the center or make a dent,and keep 1-2 tsp of filling and cover by bring all the edges together and press it tightly and roll the dough to a smooth bun and keep it in the tray .
  • do repeat the same for remaining dough and filling, and arrange in on a lined or greased baking tray and then brush the  stuffed and rolled buns with milk on top.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degree Fahrenheit.
  • Then baked them for 15-20 minutes or until the top turns light golden brown and done.(for me it took only 13 minutes ).
  • Once done.remove from the oven, cool it for a while and again spread butter on the top and serve warm with a cup of hot Coffee/Tea...
