Broccoli In Hot Garlic Sauce

I started cooking broccoli for the past 3 years only, initially I hesitate to cook mushroom, broccoli, dunno the exact reason but strong hesitation was there...I pick the mushroom packets n broccoli crowns but at the end of shopping my mind will change n will keep it in their respective places. This is what happening in the initial days here. One fine day V bought this Broccoli in hot garlic sauce n veg fried rice from Chinese Restaurant, after tasting the broccoli I started loving it and from that time started using it in my regular cooking.
When it's raw n fresh, broccoli doesn't look much pleasing but after cooking like stir fry, baked broccoli, roasted broccoli it looks so attractive, appetizing n I love it's vibrant green color. And many thanks to this blogging world, after my blog I started cooking broccoli in many ways, have experimented more and one of my recent experiment Broccoli Snack Roll was super doper Hit.
Now coming to the recipe, it's my long time wish to try this broccoli in hot sauce and finally tried few weeks back and am happy with my result.
I searched for this recipe, each one is different and I lack one or the other after referring many recipes I come up with the following recipe & it tasted almost the same like the restaurant one. If you love broccoli then give it a try...

  2. Red Onion     2 tbsp(finely chopped)
  3. Garlic          4 fat cloves(finely chopped)
  4. Red Chilli Flakes     1 tsp
  5. Sesame Oil/Olive Oil     1 tbsp(I used 1/2 tbsp each)
For Sauce
  1. Soy Sauce    2 tsp
  2. Chilli Garlic Sauce or Hot sauce   1-2 tbsp
  3. Tomato Sauce    1/2 tbsp
  4. Vinegar     1 tsp
  5. Sugar        1 tsp
  6. Crushed pepper    to taste
  7. Corn Starch     1 tbsp
  8. Cold Water      6 tbsp
  9. Salt    to taste

  • Wash and cut broccoli in to small florets and keep aside.
  • In a small bowl add all the ingredients under the heading "For Sauce", mix it and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add finely chopped garlic and red chilli flakes and fry till garlic turns golden brown  crisp and aroma comes.
  • Then add onions and stir fry for a minute and add broccoli, stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
  • After that add the prepared sauce and stir fry for a minute or until sauce thickened and turns glossy.
  • That's it...Broccoli in Hot Garlic Sauce ready. Serve Hot as an Appetizer or Side. We had it with Chinese Veg Fried Rice.
