Thanks to friends who support and encourage me from the beginning to till date. Thank you buddies and without you i couldn't make this space a successful one with 100+ followers . Thanks to all my readers. Please stay connected for more delightful and interesting recipes.
Coming to today's recipe, Khara Buns or Savory buns my another successful attempt on baking. This recipe was adapted from Rak's Kitchen . She had beautifully explained with step wise pictures. I used instant yeast and baked as mini buns or small sized buns. Thru picture it looks little big but the original size was lesser than they look. And also i tried topping with onion and chili along with the garlic spread. that was also tasted great. Now to the recipe.

Ingredients
  1. All Purpose Flour    1 cup
  2. Wheat flour     1/2 cup
  3. Instant yeast (highly Active yeast)    1 tbsp
  4. Salt      3/4 tsp
  5. Olive Oil     2 tbsp + 2 tsp
  6. Garlic      2 big cloves(finely chopped)
  7. Parsley flakes     2 tbsp
  8. Red chilli Flakes      1 tbsp or more or to taste
  9. Milk    1-2 tbsp for brushing

Method
  • Sift both the flours and add it to a mixing bowl, add yeast instant yeast.
  • Then add salt and oil mix everything well.
  • And add garlic, parsley/cilantro and red chilli flakes to the flour.
  • Mix everything well and using water knead to a soft smooth ,pliable dough.
  • Then again add 1 tsp oil and knead the dough for 7-8 minutes to from a smooth and soft dough.
  • Now apply another tsp of oil all over the dough and cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set aside in a warm place(keep it in oven with lights on) to rise for 1 hour - 1.30 hours.
  • It should double in its size.
  • After 1 hour or after it had risen , divide the dough in to 12 lemon size balls and arrange it on a greased or lined baking pan/ tray and keep aside for 20 minutes to rise again.
  • for onion and shilli spread(optional)
  • Garlic spread    1 tbsp
  • Onion    2 tbsp(thinly sliced)
  • Green chilli    1 tsp(finely chopped)
  • If you want ,can top the dough with onion and chilli spread and set aside for another 20 minutes to rise.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit
  • After 20 minutes, brush the dough top with milk or egg wash and bake it for 15- 20 minutes or till the top turns light golden brown. For me it took only 15 minutes )
  • Once done remove from the oven, spread some butter on top of the khara bun and allow to cool for a while and then serve the buns with some more chilli flakes or pepper powder N enjoy with Hot Chai..
