Peanut Chaat Recipe

Recipe Category : Snack/Salad | Serves 2

Ingredients

  1. Raw Peanuts   1 Cup
  2. Onion, finely chopped  1/4 cup
  3. Tomato, deseeded finely chopped  1/4 cup
  4. Cucumber,  chopped 1/4 cup
  5. Green chilli 1 or 2 (finely chopped)
  6. Carrot, shredded    1/4 cup
  7. Raw Mango, shredded   1/4 cup or less
  8. Lime Juice  1 Tbsp
  9. Cilantro, finely chopped 2 Tbsp
  10. Chaat Masala  3/4 tsp
  11. Jeera Powder   1/2 tsp
  12. Kashmiri Chilli Powder 1 tsp
  13. Salt to taste
Notes:
This is a basic chaat, no need of green chutney or sweet tamarind chutney just the above ingredients is more than enough for a tasty healthy snack.
Soaking Peanuts is optional, you can also directly cook the raw peanuts in pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles.
But soaking for 15-30 or 1 hour will help to cook the peanuts better.
You can also add a cup of boiled potato/aloo & corn kernels.
Adjust spices to your taste, the above measurement will give you a medium spicy chaat. For less spicy skip green chillies.
You can also add a tsp of honey or jaggery syrup to the chaat.

Method
  • First take 1 cup Raw Peanuts in a bowl, and add enough water and let them soak for minimum 10 minutes or 1 hour is more than enough to get soft boiled peanuts.
  • After soaking just rinse them in water and transfer the soaked and washed peanuts to a cooker and pressure cook for 1 or 2 whistles. I cooked them in InstantPot(Pressure Cook Mode - 10 Minutes) Let the pressure release naturally.
  • Once done allow the peanuts to cool for a while then the peanuts are ready to make chaat.
  • In a wide mixing bowl, add in all the ingredients.
  • Toss everything well, taste it and adjust the spices/salt to your taste.
  • Serve right away or refrigerate it for 15 minutes and serve it chilled.
