Beets Cauliflower Cutlets

Hope You guys had a wonderful weekend and wish u a great week ahead. Me too had a great weekend and i recovered from my illness and back to normal :) Have you ever missed your Wallet/Handbags/Mobile while shopping ?? Yep i missed all the three and luckily got it back every time. Yesterday we went to grocery store and while shopping i missed my Handbag and i didn't noticed it till we return to car.Almost 40 minutes over and i don't even remember where i lost it. I was so much tensed and nervous, my H consoled me and asked to check with Help Desk....When i asked that Lady in the counter, she questioned about my bag color etc. At last she gave my Bag and said " You must be very careful while shopping"!! Hooooo...I am so lucky to get my it back for the third time.Thank God !!! Do you have any similar experience?!, would like to hear from you.  Ok now will move to today's recipe.. Beets Cauliflower Cutlets...Few days back i made this crispy and yummy cutlets with beets n cauliflower and this combo turned out so good and we liked it a lot. I got around 10 cutlets, i pan fried for me and remaining were deep fried for H and kids. Both were delicious. The recipe as follows..

Ingredients
  1. Cauliflower    1 and 1/2 cup (shredded)
  2. Beet root    1 small ( peeled and shredded)
  3. Potato   1 small (boiled n mashed)
  4. Onion    2 tbsp(finely chopped)
  5. Chili powder    1/2 tsp
  6. Cumin Powder    1/4 tsp
  7. Garam masala powder    1/4 tsp
  8. Salt    to taste
  9. Cilantro    2 tbsp(finely chopped)
  10. Breadcrumbs     1/2 cup
  11. Maida /All purpose Flour    1 tbsp
  12. Water     1/3 cup
  13. Oil    for deep frying
Method
  • Boil potato and peel the skin and mash well and keep ready.
  • Wash and shred cauliflower and keep it in hot water for 15 minutes and drain completely, also squeeze out excess moisture and keep ready.
  • Wash beets, peel skin and shred and squeeze out excess moisture (you can add this drained water to rasam/sambar/soup ).

  • Then take a wide bowl, add potato, beets, cauliflower, onion, cilantro, chili powder, garam masala, cumin and enough salt ...mix everything well.( If u feel the mixture to be little moisture, add 1-2 tsp of corn flour or breadcrumbs).
  • Now divide the mixture in to 10 lemon sized balls and keep ready.
  • Mix maida with water and keep aside until use.
  • Heat oil (to deep fry) in  a pan, ,take one ball, press it gently and dip it in the maida water and roll in bread crumbs and fry it on hot oil till become crisp and light brown.( or you can pan fry those balls in tawa
  • Once done, remove from hot oil and drain the excess oil in paper towel and serve it hot.
  • Do repeat the same for all the remaining balls.
  • That's it...Super Yummy Beets Cauliflower Cutlets are Ready to Serve. Serve with ketchup n lemon wedges.
Notes:
If  don't like beets, you can avoid beets and proceed with potatoes and cauliflower.

  31. Beautiful colour, and I love the use of great healthy ingredients. I wonder if they would turn out well if they were baked at a high heat instead of frying, to make them even more healthier? This is a recipe I will be trying for sure thanks for sharing.

    1. Yeah you can bake these patties, i have tried baking cutlets n they come out great...or simply you can pan fry them using 1/2 -1 tsp of oil in a pan arrange the patties n cook in medium heat for 3-4 minutes turn other side n cook for another 3-4 minutes n enjoy!
