Devil's Food Cake / Devil's Food Cake With Chocolate Whipping Cream Frosting - My 500th Post !!

I am so happy to share my 500th post today and also i have one more reason for this special treat, my lil' space now got more than 10000 comments...that's really a big "wow" to me since those lovely comments, encouraging words are my strong strength and without that i couldn't able to reach this level. I thank from my bottom of heart to each and every one who visit and comment here for my lovely creations. I hope U will continue this and support in all my future creations also.

So far all my centuries posts were celebrated with Indian dessert/Sweet but this time i would like to share a continental dessert and i have chose our family favorite chocolate cake, Devil's Food Cake. I am a strong addict to chocolates, chocolates n anything with chocolates. During my school & college days i have eaten dozens n dozens of chocolates, ice creams, sweets and i love it more :)
For all my birthdays n special occasions i prefer chocolate cake, even now my kids too love chocolate cake so what ever be the theme our choice of cake will be Chocolate, chocolate & Chocolate!!

Now coming to the recipe Devil's Food Cake, this is so soft, light, delicious, flavorful and irresistible chocolate cake with no butter. As this recipe calls for only one egg i don't want to experiment with egg substitute. I followed the recipe as such and my cake turned out so good!!! I frosted the cake with chocolate whipping cream frosting, i added sugar and cocoa to my taste and made the cream with light sweetness. Now off to the recipe,

Recipe Source: Taste of Home
Ingredients
  1. All Purpose Flour     3/4 cup + 2 tbsp
  2. Sugar        1 cup ( i used 3/4 cup)
  3. Baking Cocoa    6 tbsp
  4. Baking Soda       1 tsp
  5. Salt         1/2 tsp
  6. Egg    1 no.
  7. Buttermilk     1/2 cup
  8. Brewed Coffee      1/2 cup
  9. Oil      1/4 cup( i used extra light olive oil)
  10. Vanilla Extract    1 tsp
For Frosting
  1. Heavy Whipping Cream    3/4 cup
  2. Baking Cocoa     4 and 1/2 tsp( i added 3 tsp)
  3. Confectioner's Sugar/Icing sugar     3-4 tbsp ( i added 3 tbsp)
  4. Vanilla extract      1/2 tsp
Method
  • Grease 9" round cake pan and line with parchment paper and keep ready.
  • In a large bow, combine flour, sugar, baking cocoa, baking soda, salt and keep aside.
  • In another bowl, whisk egg, then add buttermilk, oil and vanilla extract mix well.
  • Now add this egg mixture to the dry ingredients, stir and then add brewed coffee and beat until combine.
  • Then add the batter to the greased n lined cake pan and bake at 350 degree Fahrenheit for 25-20 minutes or until an inserted tooth pick comes out clean.
  • Cool for 10 minutes, remove the cake from pan and cool completely before frosting.
For Frosting
  • In a bowl, beat cream until soft peaks form.
  • Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar, cocoa and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  • Frost top and sides of cake. Store in the refrigerator until serving.

Notes:
This cake tastes delicious even without frosting, if u like sprinkle with some icing sugar, slice n njoy!
Cool the cake completely before frosting.
whipping cream must be chilled and also keep the bowl n the whisk(which used to make frosting  in refrigerator before starting the frosting process.
And also u can used any desired frosting.
