Khara Pori / Spiced Wheat Puffs with Garlic ~ Healthy Snack !

If you are looking for a spicy, crunchy, tasty and healthy snack then this Spiced Wheat Puffs is the right choice. Perfect for evening snacks along with some hot tea or coffee. V's favorite snack next to Sundals. So I often make this khara Pori but never get a chance to click but this time made specially to post here.
Except me everyone likes this snack at home, my fav is Masala Pori. So refreshing n yummy snack with freshly grated veggies n spices, perfect for this weather.  Have tried Masala Pori with wheat puffs but it doesn't tasted good, roasting only makes it more tasty n crunchy. My kids too love this khara pori. You too try this for your kids' snack. I have used wheat puffs but you can make it with rice puffs too.

Ingredients
  1. Wheat Puffs/Rice Puffs      4 cups
  2. Peanuts                               1/2 cup or more
  3. Dalia / Pottu Kadalai          2 tbsp
  4. Garlic                                 7 or 8 fat cloves.
  5. Dry Red chili                      2 no. (broken)
  6. Turmeric Powder                1/4 tsp
  7. Kulambu Milagai Thool
  8. or Sambar Powder                       1 tsp
  9. Salt                                      1/4 tsp or to taste
  10. Coconut Oil                                   1-2 Tbsp

Method
  • Heat oil in a big kadai/pan, add garlic and fry for a minute then add dry red chili, turmeric powder and fry the garlic till it turns golden brown n crisp.
  • Then add dalia, peanuts(i used raw peanuts) and fry it well till it gets roasted well n crisp. Fry everything in low-medium heat.
  • Now add wheat puffs or rice puffs, sprinkle salt n chili / sambar powder and fry well till all the puffs gets coated with turmeric powder.
  • Fry in medium heat for 4-5 minutes, these wheat puffs will not be crunchy when its hot after cooling it turns so crispy n crunchy.
  • That's it...spiced wheat puffs ready. After cooling transfer it to an air tight container.

Notes:
Adding more garlic will give the original flavor n taste.
You can also add a sprig of curry leaves along with dry red chilies.
