My mom & Grandma mostly makes Thenkuzhal & Rice Murukku/Mullu Murukku for Diwali and these both murukku are prepared using rice flour (homemade or store bought flour) and very rarely make this Idli Rice Murukku.  Last weekend when I was talking to my Mil I told about the Jalapeno Murukku recipe which kids liked it very much and that time she told me to try murukku using Idli Rice & Dry red chilli for this Diwali. Without any second thought I tried it today and it came out so good.

Vada Pav is a popular street food of Mumbai, nothing but a soft Pav buns served with Batata Vada, green chutney and spicy dry garlic chutney. When I made this last year I tried with Homemade Pav Buns and Chaat Garlic Chutney, that time I was so tired and stressed because I baked Pav Buns and with the fresh pav made Masala Pav and Vada Pav(with Batata Vada) all on same day. It was really a tiring day and now I am wondering how I made everything single handedly on one day?! I didn't even concentrate on presentation and for name sake clicked few pictures, when compared to this new Vada Pav pictures, the pictures I took on that was too simple. Fortunately or Unfortunately, due to my laptop crash all my food pictures got deleted. So, now I am preparing all those recipes again with new and fresh pictures.

Batata Vada is a spicy and delicious deep fried snack prepared using potato/aloo/batata. This recipe is almost similar to the south Indian Urulai kizhangu Bonda/Masal Bonda, expect the use of spices and potato filling preparation is different. Anything with potato is most welcomed at home and that too a deep fried snack is sure a hit. My kids enjoyed this snack. Batata vada can be prepared in no time, if you have some boiled potato in hand then you will need only 10-15 minutes to make this yummy snack.
I prepared this batata vada last week especially to share here, because I lost all my drafted food pictures due to hard disk issue. I usually, I write the recipe and save it in blogger and only on the day of posting I upload the pictures till that time it will be in my personal laptop. And Now, all the food pictures were lost due to my laptop issue and we couldn't retrieve any data from hard disk. So, I have to cook and click for my further posts. I will try to cook and share some easy recipes.

I have more recipes in my draft but in order to overcome my anxiety pangs I decided to cook or bake a recipe to blog at least once a week. And this week, I cooked this Asparagus Pakora/Deep Fried Asparagus. This is a simple and easy to make snack recipe.

We like to eat Oven Roasted Asparagus just like Roasted Broccoli. But, kids did not like the roasted asparagus and for them I made this Yummy and crispy Asparagus Pakora. These pakoras are vegan, gluten free with full of flavor and taste. To mask the slight bitterness of the stem, I added chaat Masala to the batter and it worked very well. My kids loved the pakoras to the core and enjoyed with sweet chilli sauce.

In my home town, vazhakkai bhaji is popular and you can find in most of the road side shops & Tea Shops during evening time. They serve Vazhakkai Bhaji with a Onion Masala and coconut chutney. I wanted to share this recipe along with onion masala but because of lighting problem I skipped it. May be I will share it later.

Diamond cuts/savory Maida Biscuits are one of the easiest spicy crunchy snack that is perfect for any occasion or anyday for tea time snack. I have already shared the recipe of Sweet Maida Biscuits and for this Diwali sharing the savory recipe. This is almost similar to the Namkeen/Namakparre. I have tasted Namakparre prepared by my Neighbor Aunt, she added extra spices and kasoori methi. And also the shape is slightly different will share that recipe sometime later. Now coming to Spicy Diamond cuts, i added Andhra Chilli powder, and my diamond biscuits were bit spicy and also got nice reddish golden color. This recipe is so simple and anyone can make them perfectly. These spicy biscuits are so addictive, even though my biscuits were spicy my kids loved it and the biscuits vanished in no time.

Today's recipe is also a Diwali special snack, Pasiparuppu(Monngdal) Murukku recipe with step by step photos. This is one of my earlier post that I wanted to update with new pictures. Finally, for this Diwali I listed this crunchy melt in mouth Moongdal Murukku recipe along with other snacks & sweets recipes to share here. Like Butter Murukku, this is also a flavor rich, crispy and melt in mouth murukku. Traditionally, this Murukku is fried in coconut oil but I used Peanut Oil. Still the murukku got rich flavor due to dal and butter addition.

Ok Now Coming to the recipe, Milagu Karasev. I am not much fond of Karasev but I like the Yellow colored Milgau Sev that is soft and mildly crunchy sev with full of black pepper flavor.

Crispy & Crunchy Instant Rice Flour Thattai Recipe with step by step photos. Thattai is one of favorite savory snack but I rarely make thattai, since every time my thattai will end in soft and not a crispy and crunchy thattai. I have tried many recipes and none have come out good. Finally after attempting so many failure experience I got to know the proper trick and recipe for making crispy and yummy thattai. I have already shared a easy thattai using Ragi Flour, Ragi Thattai and today I am sharing the best and no fail Rice Flour Thattai Recipe. This recipe uses instant/readymade/store bought rice flour.  No need to use processed raw rice flour.  Simple isn't ?! Do give it a try for this Diwali and let me know how it turned out to you. The only trick is always use cotton cloth or paper towel to flatten the dough, by this way the excess moisture from the dough is absorbed and when fried in oil you get a nice crispy and crunchy thattai. I also made some mini thattais to enjoy my hometown special snack, Salem Thattuvadai Set. But my kids finished most of the thattais as such, may be will make it some other time to enjoy my favorite thattai set. Now off to the recipe...
