Karamani Masala Sundal | Masala Sundal Recipe | Black Eye Bean Sundal With Sundal Masala | Varuthu Aracha Masala Sundal Recipe

Karamani Masala Sundal
Even though i like to include beans/legumes in my diet, I do not like regular sundal but once in a while like this kind of masala sundal with some spice powder/masala powder. The spices blend enhances the taste and flavor of the sundal. Here's is Karamani Masala Sundal/Spicy Black Eye Bean Sundal. This is almost like my Varuthu Aracha Sundal, this time added some pepper corns to make it bit spicy and also to treat my cold and congestion.
Sundal prepared using legumes and pulses are rich in protein, fiber and low in calories and are perfect filling and healthy snack and sometimes makes a nice side with curd rice or with rice and rasam. We had this Karamani Masala Sundal for our lunch along with curd rice. The masala podi i used for this karamani sundal can be used to make any veggies stir fry or even in puli kuzhambu and Sambar for extra flavor and taste. Now off to the recipe..

Maa Laddu Recipe | Maladdu(Roasted Gram Dal Ladoo) | Pottukadalai Urundai

Maa Laddu Recipe
Today's recipe is another easy and quick traditional Indian Sweet, Maa Laddu. If you are looking for simple Prasad for Navaratri, then this Maa Laddu is one best choice. It is not only easy, a healthy snack/sweet for growing kids. During my childhood days, we used to eat sugar and roasted gram dal as snack when we don't have snack at home. Mostly, we powder it coarsely and have it as such or along with coconut. Whenever, me, my sister, cousins play with our cooking set, we make this pottukadalai maavu and we all ate together with those miniature dinner sets :) We used to play for hours together with our kitchen set. Those are golden days, wish i had some rewind button to go back and enjoy once again those childhood fun and care free life.
Now off to the recipe, For This Ladoo along with ghee, I also added 1 tbsp milk to get soft and smooth ladoos. Milk gives nice texture and taste to ladoos, but if you can skip it and use ghee alone to make Maa Laddu.

Black Beans Sundal | Varuthuaracha Sundal | Beans Sundal Using Roasted Spices | Masala Beans Paruppu Sundal Recipe - Navaratri Sundal Recipes

Beans Masala Sundal
Happy Navaratri Wishes To all Who Celebrate the occasion. Navaratri started from today and my FB news feed is flooded with sundal varieties and Neivedhyam recipes for the occasion. Actually, I don't have any plans to share Sundal recipes this week since, last week I cook and clicked almost 10 recipes including chaats and main course. But today after seeing so many Navaratri related recipes I am tempted and wanted to share something related to the occasion.

I had some cooked beans in freezer, so decided to make Black Beans sundal without onion and garlic using freshly roasted and ground spices. Also there's some left over cooked Moongdal used after for Poriyal, so added that too and to my surprise Black Beans Sundal turned out so awesome with lovely flavor and taste. Even though i don't like Sundal, I liked this Black Bean Sundal with Moongdal and roasted spices. I did not onions, so it can be offered as Prasad to God. If you have cooked beans in hand then you can make this sundal in just 10-15 minutes. Black Beans is a versatile Ingredient you can cook any kind of recipes from any cuisine, it tastes so great and this Authentic South Indian style Black Beans stir fry one such example. Rava Kesari / Kesari Recipe - Easy Indian Sweet Recipes

Rava Kesari is a popular South Indian sweet that is made using Semolina/Sooji/Rava. It is made during all festive occasions & Weddings. This is a simple and quick sweet, you can make this sweet instantly if you have rava/sooji at home. This is one of the easiest & quick nivedyam. This Rava Kesari even makes a quick Cake to celebrate Birthday instantly. Have cut Kesari Cake few years and even this year for my husband's birthday i made this Kesari Cake since I was sick at that time. So prepared this Kesari cake instantly(see 4th collage pic)

I wanted to share this recipe for a long time, but every time one or the other reason prevented me to click. This is the first sweet recipe I learned to make and from the first time it was successful. As its very simple and also it can be prepared in 20 minutes, I often make this sweet for all special occasions. Recently made this on Diwali day and clicked few pictures to share here. I used only few drops of ghee for flavor so my rava kesari doesn't have the glossy, shiny texture and it looks dry like upma, but taste wise it was good and I am happy with the reduced calorie/fat :) I sometimes use oil also for this Rava Kesari. Either way it tasted good, but the addition of ghee makes it rich, delicious and flavorful sweet.

Pachai Payir Sundal / Mung Bean Salad / Green Gram Sundal Recipe

Happy Dussehra / Dasara Wishes to all who celebrate this special occasion. Dasara/Vijayadashami  is a Hindu festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil, the victory of Goddess Durga over the demons Mahishasur. As the name suggests Vijayadashmi or Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of the month of Ashwin according to the Hindu lunisolar calendar which corresponds to September or October of the Gregorian calendar. The first nine days are celebrated as Maha Navratri or Sharada Navratri and culminates on the tenth day as Dasara. On this Day people of the Hindu faith observe Dussehra through special prayer and food offerings to the gods at home or in temple. Many people also believe that it is lucky day to start a new venture, project or journey on Dussehra. So on this special occasion i wish all my readers & blogger friend and family a good health, wealth & peace.

Pachai Payir Vella Sundal / Vella Sundal / Whole Moong Sweet Sundal - Navarathri Recipes

Today being Friday and also tomorrow Navarathri (in India it started today) i wanted to share this Vella Sundal / Pachai Payir Vella Sundal. This Vella Sundal is one of the recipe which is prepared on any one of the nine days as Nivedyam. My neighbor maamis also give this sweet sundal as Prasadham on one of the Nine Days when we visit their Home to see Golu. I would like to watch their Golu on all nine days, each day they decorate the Golu differently. Though my mom make this Vella Sundal during Ayutha Pooja or Vinayagar Chathurthi i love the sundal which is made by my Neighbor maamis during Navarathri. Dunno the reason but i love Maami's Sundals or Kozhukattais more than my mom's recipe.

Kadala Paruppu Sundal / Chana Dal Sundal ~ Easy Navarathri Sundal Recipe

Just only 5 more days for Navarathri and most of the Indian blogs are flooding with Sundal & other Navarathri related recipes. I too wanted to share few easy and quick to make sundal recipes here for the occasion. We do not have the custom of celebrating this Nine days Festival. But we lived in an Agraharam for more than 10 years and all the families in that area celebrate it in their own way and almost everyone keep kolu/Golu at their home and i love to watch the Golu settings-the lighting, toys(chettiyar bommai, marapachi bommai, park toys are my fav) and above all the Bakshenam they give on all nine days ;) I really enjoyed going to all the maamis' house to watch the Golu, they only give the bakshenam if we sing or recite slogam :) I don't know whether the maamis still remember us but I never failed to recollect the days where we had so much fun at their place watching golu and eating all those yummy foods :)
This Kadala Paruppu Sundal is one such easy and tasty sundal with very simple preparation. It just needs boiling chana and a simple tempering, no onions in this sundal recipe. Its even a perfect filling and healthy snack for Diabetic people.

Modhagam / Thengai Ellu Poorna Kozhukattai / Sweet Kozhukattai

Today's recipe is Lord Ganesha's favorite sweet, Modhagam / Sweet Kozhukattai for final of Blogging Marathon under the theme, Vinayagar Chaturthi Special. My Grand pa used to say more stories about God(purana kathaigal), I remember the one about Lord Ganesha. In that story, He told about the birth n power of Lord Ganesha. Of that entire story, Ganesha's childhood part is my favorite, hope its favorite of many of us too rt?! I loved the recent movie about the childhood part, Bal Ganesh. In that movie also they have shown like Lord Ganesha love lots of Modhagam n he eats more n more and thus he got such fat body :) And that’s why we offer this Modhagam to Ganesha on Vinayagar Chaturthi, so that Lord will be more happy by our offering and Bless us with all our needs. These are all small beliefs n it does not necessary to offer something to God to get his blessings. Simply a whole hearted Prayer n strong belief makes our life peace & happy. May Lord Ganesha gives us all the happiness n peace.

So all our plan was dropped ok we planned again next month :) Today i am feeling much better.
For Day 6, under the theme Pick One Cook All with my star Ingredient, "Chickpeas/Channa" here comes a Sweet recipe, Poornam Boorelu with Chickpeas. Poornam Boorelu is a traditional Andhra Recipe which is done with channa dal and deep fried with urad dal batter. I replaced channa dal with chickpeas and instead of deep frying i used my Paniyaram Pan to fry them. I love anything with jaggery in any form. I just love this version a lot n my kids too. Urad dal n Jaggery n Chickpeas are well know for its nutrients n vitamins n iron contents so without spoiling its health factor i simply made this delicious sweet in Paniyaram Pan as low calorie guilt free sweet.
