Mango Sago/Sabudana Payasam Recipe is an another easy and delicious dessert to enjoy during the Mango season with variety of sweet mangoes available in the market. Mango Sago Payasam is nothing but a simple Sago/Sabudana/Javvarisi Payasam with the addition of Fresh Mango Puree. I am a fan of Sago Payasam/Kheer and have tried with different flavors but recently noticed that haven't posted any of those recipes here. So, I Wanted to share a recipe with these ingredients and Here the super rich and delicious Aval Payasam recipe. For this Aval Payasam I used only Whole Milk to cook and did not use any water. Aadi 18 / Aadi Perukku special recipes or Lunch Menu. Aadi perukku or Aadi 18 is celebrated on the 18th day of Tamil Month Aadi. This festival is common in South India and is celebrated as a tribute to water's life sustaining properties. My Mom used to make variety rice, payasam and vada on this special day. I prepared this Variety rice platter for last year's Aadi Perukku and did not get time post it and was lying in the draft for almost a year. Today thought of sharing it as tomorrow is Aadi 18 and this post may help you to prepare your lunch menu.

to be in minus degrees. This year till Christmas it was a warm winter and we loved it and enjoyed going out during weekends. But now I hate to go out and also I am bit lazy too, mostly I stay home and ask V to do grocery shopping and other stuff.
Now coming to the recipe, Slow Cooker Rice Kheer, I bought Bella slow cooker druing Thanks Giving Sale and trying few Indian recipes. I am loving this slow cooking concept and the gadget is working fine, no stir no saute no mess and easy one pot cooking. First recipe I tried in my slow cooker was this Rice Kheer and the rice kheer turned out so creamy and delicious than to my expectations. Even without condensed milk, the kheer was so milky and creamy and the rice also cooked so soft and perfectly. I tried this kheer twice within a month, and it is our recent favorite slow cook recipe. I also tried Khichdi, Chicken Tikka Curry, Beans Soup, Masoor Dal Sambar and everything turned out good. On New Year's day i made this Rice Kheer specially to share here and took pictures.

After a month break I am happy to be back with a healthy and delicious Payasam/Kheer recipe using Thinai / Foxtail millet. Due to some personal commitments i am unable to look after my blog baby for long time. And now i decided to spare some time for my blog too.
I prepared this Thinai Paruppu Payasam for Varalakshmi Pooja. Thinai / Foxtail Millet is one of my recent favorite millet and i have been trying more recipes with it. Instead of plain Millet payasam i added few moongdal/yellow lentils for extra richness and taste to the kheer.

Mango Vermicelli Kheer / Mango Kheer - Easy Mango Dessert Recipe !
Hi, Friends & Readers, Hope you are doing great and everything is fine from my end too. Because of our shifting and other things i took a break and Finally we shifted and settled in Aurora. Though it;s a Interstate move, one or the other things kept me busy. I really missed by little space and my dear blogger friends a lot. And, now I am happy and excited to be back. But somehow, I lost the Enthu and it gonna take some time for me. At the same time, don't want to extend the break time, so will keep posting whenever time and mind permits ;)

Beets Pasta Payasam / Beets Pasta Kheer
I always prepare Payasam/Kheer for all special occasions at home. As today also a special day as its viji;s birthday i prepared this Beets Pasta Payasam. This is my first try with beets and pasta combo, have tried pasta/macaroni payasam before but the combo turned out so good. My H who doesn't like Pasta in any way loved this creamy beets pasta kheer. I usually add ground nuts powder to my payasam but for a change i added ground almond & cashew paste. Over all a rich, creamy and delicious payasam. So give it a try to impress your family and guest with this colourful and delicious Beets Pasta Payasam. Here you go...

Beets Pasta Payasam / Beeta Pasta Kheer - My Guest Post To Viji !
Today's post I am happy to share a guest post to my friendly sis Viji of Virunthu Unna Vaanga. Long back i accepted to do a guest post for her but one or the other things kept me busy and was postponing. As today her Birthday and we friends usually make a virtual party post but i wanted to do the guest post which she asked me so that it will be on her space forever. My small b'day gift and hope she and her readers like it.
A few words about Viji's Virunthu & the wonderful person behind it. I came to know viji virtually only a year back. She is an enthusiastic blogger and friendly person. Its always pleasure chatting with her. She love sweets/desserts more than the savory food stuffs. That is also one of the reason for my today's post.
Virunthu Unna Vaanga has lots of traditional south Indian recipes, lovely bakes and many innovative recipes of her own. She puts more effort to share each and every recipe with detailed step wise pictures. I can see a vast difference in her recent pictures. She tries to take pics in day light and also i like the way she present each dishes.

The above quote definitely fit to me, have found few friends whom i met on Internet via blogging and now know them more by heart and am really Blessed to have them in my life. One such friend is Priya of Priya's Versatile Recipes. She is such a inspiring woman to me in all ways, personal, blogging, character, attitude everything she is Gem of a Woman have met so far. I don't have to explain about her blogging skills, about her versatility on her recipes, baking passion, healthy recipes, she is an enthusiastic blogger and also very supportive and inspiring for any new blogger. Her recent event, Rendez Vous With A Foodie is one best example for her helping and supportive nature. Every 7th and 15th of a month she show case a New blogger's post, that's really a nice thought and appreciate it. Carrot Payasam / Carrot Kheer
We love payasam and i used to make it without fail in all our happy moments n special occasions. But this time on my elder one's birthday couldn't able to make his favorite payasam bcoz of party n other things. So last week again he requested me to make payasam for him. But this time i wanted to try new payasam from my regular Vermicelli payasam & moongdal payasam, then remember about this Carrot Payasam from Divya's Culinary Journey. Her payasam color, look, texture n recipe attracted me more, and also she added vermicelli to carrot payasam which sounds even more interesting n delicious and wanted to try it for long time. finally, last week made this delicious Carrot Payasam and we enjoyed it. Thanks Divya for simple wonderful recipe. Now to the recipe...

Cracked Wheat Sweet Corn Payasam
Day 4 of Blogging Marathon Under the theme "Whole grain dishes" and today's recipe , sweet Payasam with cracked wheat n sweet corn. This is my another successful experiment :) I listed down the wholegrains in pantry - whole wheat flour,brown rice,cracked wheat, whole grain pasta,Ragi.Corn n other legumes. I planned to make recipes with these ingredients and in the row today coming "Cracked Wheat Sweet corn Payasam". I tried this payasam similar to my kids' favorite Moongdal Payasam/Pasiparuppu Payasam. It tasted divine and i am so so happy with the experiment. Now to the recipe...

Vermicelli Kheer Recipe - Happy Mothers Day

Vermicelli Kheer my mom's favorite Indian dessert. I made this today for her though she is not staying with me now..i shared the pictures with her :) Few words about my Mom on this special day...I can say that My Mom is one of the bestest Mom n Woman in the world. She is more talented and she struggled lot to brought up me n my sister. She faced n still facing so many problems with my dad's family n relatives. Literally she is living for us and sacrificed many things only for her children. After my marriage she was totally depressed, as I left her n now after my sister's marriage again she was left alone. She was physically n mentally more tired ;( Her only relaxation is my skype call through which she can see me n her grandsons..so daily I will spare at least some 30 minutes for her.
Respect your parents n understand their feelings in their old age. When I was pregnant..really for the first time in my life I am able to understand the Meaning of a Mom n able to fee the pain n struggle she faced to brought us up. When I became a Mom....I was so so happy n that moment felt proud to born as a woman. Once again happy mothers day to all. My Mom n Me being a Mom is the greatest assert in my life n the precious gift given by the Almighty.
Coming to the recipe...I referred sanjeev kapoor's vermicelli kheer recipe.
Ingredients
- Vermicelli 1/4 cup
- Milk 3 and 1/2 cups(i used 1% low fat milk)
- Sweetened condensed milk 1/2 of a 8 oz can
- Cardamom powder 1 tsp
- Ghee/butter 1 tbsp
- Raisins 10 no.s
- Cashewnuts 10-12 no.s
- Almonds 7 no.s(blanched n sliced)
- Cashew nut powder 1-2 tbsp(coarsely powdered cashew nuts)
- Heat a tbsp of ghee in a nonstick vessel and fry the cashew nuts and raisins separately and keep aside.
- In the same pan.roast the vermicelli till flavor n turns light golden brown and keep aside.
- In the same vessel add 3 and 1/2 cups of milk and allow to boil.
- When it starts boiling add the roasted vermicelli and keep stirring to prevent get burnt at the bottom.
- After 2-3 minutes add the sweetened condensed milk and stir well.
- After 1 minute add the cashew nut powder and cardamom powder(or crush 3-4 whole cardamoms) and keep stirring until the desired consistency.
- Lastly add the ghee roasted cashews n raisins and also some blanched almonds.
- Mix well and remove from the stove.
- Delicious vermicelli kheer is now ready.Serve warm or chilled.I like the chilled one...
I didn't add sugar...the sweet of condensed milk is enough to me..if u want you can add some sugar along with condensed milk as in the original recipe.This time the vermicelli which i bought was too thin n short than the regular .because of light problem not able to take clear pictures of the kheer ...sorry !!

Vermicelli-Sago Payasam/Vermicelli-Sago Kheer
Sago n Vermicelli is one of my favorite combo in payasam. I usually make sago paysam similar to that of paal payasam. To this payasam i used to add fine cashew nut powder which gives nice n rich taste to the payasam. But it is completely optional. I love Payasm with vadai/vada, both Medhu Vada n Dal Vada. But today i made Medhu vada n i love this combo too :) This Payasam is one of the easy n simple nevedhiyam. The recipe as follows...
