Chocolate Cookies / Chocolate Cut out Cookies / Christmas Cut out Cookies

After my successful attempt on baking a perfect batch of Snowball Cookies gave me a confident to try some more cookies. My bookmarked list on cookies is little huge and i wanted share those lovely recipes here on my space. In that row, first i tried out this crunchy, melt in mouth Chocolaty cookies with a hint of coffee. I slightly tweaked the original recipe and to my surprise it turned out awesome. A must try recipe for those who love chocolate n its flavor. These cookies are perfect for tea time snack, it tasted so good when dipped in hot coffee. Do give it a try...This is so simple recipe and u can seek help from ur kids in cutting and decorating. I really enjoyed making these cookies with my lil' one :)

Recipe Source : Cooking Melangery
Ingredients ( makes about 2 dozen or 27 cookies)
  1. All Purpose Flour        1 and 1/4 cup
  2. Baking Powder         1/4 tsp
  3. Baking Soda              1/2 tsp
  4. Salt                          a pinch
  5. Cocoa Powder        1 tbsp
  6. Instant Coffee           1/4 tsp
  7. Butter      1/4 cup
  8. Honey      1/4 cup
  9. Brown Sugar         1/4 cup
  10. Vanilla                   1/2 tsp
  11. Milk                      2-3 tbsp
  12. Colored Sugar Sprinkles for decoration

Method
  • In a bowl, sift flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda and  mix n keep aside.
  • In a sauce pan melt butter, to that add honey and brown sugar stir well and to this mixture add milk and vanilla and mix everything well.
  • To the wet ingredient add flour mixture and mix to a tight smooth dough.
  • Now cover the dough using plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2-3 hours or until firm.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit. Line baking tray with parchment paper and keep ready.
  • After that, unwrap dough n on a well floured surface, using rolling pin roll the dough into 1/4" thick.
  • Then shape using assorted/desired cookie cutter and transfer it to the lined tray placing 1.5 inches apart.
  • Gather scraps and re-roll and cut out more cookies.
  • Sprinkle colored sugar before baking and bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges turns crisp n brown.
  • Once done, transfer the cookies to a wire rack and cook completely before storing.
  • If u want dust the baked cookies with icing or confectioners' sugar.

Notes:
I have used honey instead of molasses.
The cookies were not on sweeter side but its perfect to us but if u want ur cookies to be more sweet plz  increase 1 or 2 tbsp.
If u feel dough to be little more tight, add 1 tbsp milk or if its little sticky n has more moisture add flour.

Sending this to Vardhini's Bake Fest and Deepthi's Christmas Food Fair Event.

  31. Hi,
Looks nice, want to try for Christmas. what is the substitute for instant coffee and honey?

    Replies
    1. You can skip Coffee powder, it is for extra flavor. The Original recipe uses Molasses instead of honey. So you can try with Molasses.
