Baked Mushroom Samosa

Thank you so much buddies for all your concern and  wishes. Do keep supporting and visiting "Spicy Treats"...Thanks a lot to all my readers.Coming to today's recipe,Baked Mushroom Samosa...this is entirely different from real potato stuffed samosa...I tried using mashed banana to make soft smooth pliable dough.Which resulted in thin soft, little crispy samosa after baking...For the filling I used-mushroom,cabbage,green bell peppers..We enjoyed with ketchup alone.so good and i all i can say, a delicious, filling and guilt free snack. Ok lets move on to the recipe...

Ingredients
For samosa dough
  1. All Purpose Flour    1 cup(sifted)
  2. Salt    1/2 tsp
  3. Banana    1/2 of s medium sized banana (peeled n mahed)
  4. Baking powder  1/4 tsp
  5. Oil   1 tsp
For Mushroom filling
  1. Mushroom    3/4 cup(sliced n striped)
  2. Onion   1 medium(cut in length wise)
  3. Garlic    2 cloves(finely chopped)
  4. Fennel seeds    1/2 tsp
  5. Cabbage   1/4 cup(thinly sliced)
  6. green Bell Pepper    2 tbsp (striped)
  7. Chilli powder   1/2 tsp
  8. Garam masala   1/2 tsp
  9. soy sauce    1 tsp(i used dark soy sauce)
  10. Cilantro    4-5 sprigs (finely chopped)
  11. Salt   as needed
  12. Pepper Powder   to taste
  13. Oil   2 tsp
Method
  • Take wide bowl, add the sifted all purpose flour, salt n baking powder mix everything well and now add the mashed banana and mix well ..using warm water knead to a soft pliable dough.
  • then add 1tsp oil and knead the dough again for 5 minutes and cover the dough with damp cloth or plastic wrap n let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile prepare the mushroom filling...
  • Heat oil in a sauce pan,add fennel seeds..when it splutter add finely chopped garlic and fry lightly.
  • Then add onions and saute for a minute and add cabbage and fry for a minute followed by green bell pepper and stir fry everything for a minute.
  • After that add mushroom and fry for a minute then add chilli n garam masala powder and fry for 1-2 minutes.
  • Now add the soy sauce and stir well.
  • Lastly add some finely chopped cilantro n pepper powder ,mix everything well and turn off the stove.
  • Allow the mushroom filling to cool for sometime.
  • Now knead the resting dough for a minute and divide the dough to 3-4 equal size balls.
  • On a well floured surface, place one ball and roll it as thin as possible as possible and cut in to 4" square.
  • Take one square piece and keep about 1 to 1 1/2 spoon of mushroom filling and fold in to triangle shape n seal the edges with water.
  • I am bored making triangle shapes n lastly tried like simple wraps-folding both the edges together n sealing. Preheat oven to 375 degree Fahrenheit. Line the baking tray with foil paper and grease it with 1 tsp oil . Now arrange the filled n folded samosa dough and brush each samosa with oil and bake it for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes turn other side and bake it for another 5-6 minutes or till turn brown n crisp.
After that enjoy the baked Mushroom Samosa with ketchup or any chaat chutney.

Note:
Use half ripe banana...full ripe banana will give more flavor & sweetness to the samosa.
Adjust chilli and pepper powder to your taste...
