Muttai Masala Recipe
When ever I don't have veggies at home I prefer to cook Egg recipes like Egg curry, Poached Egg Kuzhambu or this Muttai Masala. There are some simple dishes that I make way often but never shared it here, some quick sabzis, onion tomato masala, muttai masala, Indian Style Beans Soup, Simple Salads, Masala Pasta, Tomato Pasta and more day-to-day recipes I wanted to share here but didn't get chance to click pictures OR I have to cook it specially to take pictures like this Muttai Masala.
One fine day I was completely bored and free and thought to cook and take pictures to feed my blog. But no proper veggies or cooked beans in hand, then immediately this Muttai Masala came to mind and without any second thought prepared and clicked some pictures :) Onion Egg Masala is a quick and simple side dish prepared using boiled eggs and more onions. This muttai masala pairs well with plain rice and with rotis too.

Ingredients
  1. Egg  2 no.
  2. Onion  1 large(sliced into lengthwise)
  3. Tomato  1 small(I used 1/2 tsp tomato paste)
  4. Ginger Garlic Paste  1/2 tsp
  5. Crushed Black Pepper    1/2-1 tsp
  6. Chilli Powder   1/2 tsp
  7. Turmeric Powder  1/4 tsp
  8. Garam Masala Powder   1/4 tsp
  9. Cilantro   few finely chopped
  10. Curry leaves   few
  11. Salt   to taste
  12. Oil   1/2 tbsp
  13. Fennel seeds   1/4 tsp
Method
First boil eggs with enough water, then remove the shell from boiled eggs and cut into two halves and keep aside. Then chop onions, crush black pepper and keep everything ready.
Now heat oil in a kadai, when it is hot add fennel seeds allow to splutter then add ginger garlic paste(i used crushed ginger and garlic), crushed black pepper and fry till the gg paste smell leaves.
Then add onion, curry leaves and saute for 3-4 minutes until the onion turns translucent.
After that add tomato paste or finely chopped tomato and saute until it turns soft and mushy.
And then add chilli, turmeric and garam masala powder stir fry well and sprinkle 1-2 tbsp of water, enough salt and mix well.
Then add boiled eggs give a gentle stir and cook covered for 1-2 minutes.
Lastly add some finely chopped cilantro and switch off the stove.
That's it..Simple and Flavorful Onion Muttai Masala Ready. Serve Hot with Plain Rice or Phulka.
For vegetarian version, try this recipe with Paneer or Soya Chunks. I have tried with Mini idlis too.
