Chicken Curry Recipe | Chicken Drumsticks Curry | Mom's Chicken Curry Recipe

This chicken curry is my Mom's recipe and its my most favorite chicken recipe. My mom usually make this curry using chicken legs(not drumsticks) but here i used Chicken Drumsticks and the curry n chicken tasted so good n spicy. This is a spicy curry and we love it that way. When i fist time tried this curry i couldn't get the perfect texture n taste n it turned out as gravy/kuzhambu. And also i used pressure cooker but this time cooked in pan and sauteed everything nicely and the curry came out really good. No special masala required only chili powder is enough and the magic ingredient is ground cinnamon n clove powder. Do give this a try you will love it!

Ingredients
  1. Chicken Drumsticks   4 no.s
  2. Onion   1 big or 1 cup (finely chopped)
  3. Tomato    2 medium size or 3/4 cup (finely chopped)
  4. Ginger garlic paste  1 tbsp
  5. Curry leaves      1 twig
  6. Chilli Powder      2 tsp
  7. Cilantro      2 tbsp (finely chopped)
  8. Salt    to taste
  9. Oil      2-3 tbsp
To Grind
  1. Cinnamon     3" stick or 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  2. Clove          6 or 7 no. or 1 tsp ground clove
For Marination
  1. Ginger Garlic paste    1/2 tsp
  2. Chili powder  1/2 tsp
  3. Turmeric powder    1/4 tsp
  4. Salt     1/4 tsp

Method
  • First wash and make 3-4 deep slits on chicken drumsticks then marinate it with given ingredients under the heading "for marination" and cover the bowl with cling wrap n keep aside for at least 20-30 minutes.
  • Put the cloves and cinnamon in a blender and powder it nicely.
  • Heat oil in a pan, then add the clove-cinnamon powder.
  • when it splutter add ginger garlic paste and stir fry for 1-2 minutes in medium flame then add onions and curry  leaves, sprinkle some salt and fry till onion get transparent. should saute the onions nicely.
  • After that add finely chopped tomatoes.
  • Saute well until it get soft and mushy.
  • Now add the marinated chicken drumsticks and stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
  • Then add chilli powder saute well,so that it get nicely coated with the chicken.
  • Cook in medium flame fry the chicken well and add about 1/2 cup water and enough salt and cook in medium heat until the chicken gets cooked well. Stir it for every 2 minutes.
  • If u feel the water is not enough to cook chicken then add some more water n cook till done.
  • Once the chicken get cooked well add some finely chopped cilantro n curry leaves n switch off the flame.
  • Now the chicken curry is ready. Serve Hot with Idli/Dosa or with rice.

Notes:
For the above onion tomato quantity i used only 2 chicken drumsticks but you can make 3 or 4 with it. If so increase onion-tomato quantity too.
2 tsp chili powder will give a little spicy but this curry will taste more good if its spicy.
Lastly along with cilantro I also added 1/4 tsp pepper powder.
