Oats Curd Bath / Oats Curd Rice / Oats Savory Oatmeal

Today's recipe is one healthy, low calorie, filling and quick meal which is perfect for Breakfast or Lunch or even for dinner. Savory Oatmeal is my constant diet menu, so comfort and satisfying meal to me. Compared to the sweet version I love this savory oats, even my kids love this savory oats. For garnishing I used pom seeds, raw mango but oats good with plain yogurt and a dash of salt. Tempering and garnishing makes it look more attractive, colorful and also adds more taste and flavor.

Preparation Time    2-3 minutes
Cooking Time    2 minutes
Total Time     10 minutes
Serves     1 generously
Ingredient
  1. Oats      scant 1/2 cup (i used rolled oats, quick cooking oats)
  2. Yogurt/Curd     1/4 cup(low fat yogurt)
  3. Water    1 cup
  4. Salt   to taste
  5. Cilantro    few finely chopped
To Temper
  1. Oil    1/2-1 tsp
  2. Mustard seeds     1/4 tsp
  3. Urad dal    1/2 tsp
  4. Chana dal    1/2 tsp

  • Carrots   1-2 tbsp (shredded)
  • Cashew nuts   2 tbsp (chopped)

Method
  • Take oats in a microwave safe bowl, add 1 cup water and enough salt and cook in high for 2 minutes.
  • Meanwhile heat oil in a pan, when its get heated add the tempering ingredients one by one and fry well and add to the beaten yogurt/curd.
  • After 2 minutes, open oven and remove the bowl, add 1-2 tbsp water mix well and allow to cool it for 2-3 minutes.
  • Then after cooling, add tempered yogurt mix well and garnish with finely chopped cilantro, raw mango, pom seeds n shredded carrot.
  • That's it..Tasty Savory Oatmeal / Oats Curd Bath ready. Serve immediately. I had with Instant Mango Pickle and Brinjal Roast with Fennel & Garlic.

Notes:
Allow cooked oats to cool for a while and then add tempered yogurt.
You can also add some chopped nuts and shredded carrots to the savory oatmeal.

Sending this to Vardhini's 30 minutes Meals Event.
