Broccoli Potato Masal Roast


      Usual masal roast but for a change i added some broccoli florets. This is one of my fav combo too. No need to expalin about the taste of masal roast ..its almost everyone's favorite n everyone has their own recipe..here's mine..



Ingredients
  1. Aloo/Potato    3 medium (boiled n roughly mashed)
  2. Broccoli   cut in to small florets-1 cup
  3. Onion    1 large (sliced)
  4. Tomato   1 small(chopped)
  5. Green chillies   3-4 no.(slit open)
  6. Ginger   1 tsp(finely chopped)
  7. Garlic  1 clove(crushed)
  8. Curry leaves    few
  9. Turmeric powder   1/4 tsp
  10. Curry powder   1/2 tsp
  11. Salt    as needed
  12. Oil    2-3 tsp
  13. Mustard seeds   1/2 tsp
  14. Fennel seeds   1/2 tsp
  15. Curry Leaves    few
  16. Chana dal   1 tbsp(soak it in warm water for 10 minutes)
  17. Cilantro   few (finely chopped)
Method
  • Boil the potatoes ,peel the skin and mash them roughly and keep aside.
  • Soak chana dal in 1/3 cup warm water for 10 minutes and drain it in paper towel and keep aside.(do not throw the soaked water...keep aside )
  • Heat oil in a pan,add mustard seeds and fennel seeds wait till it pop, and then add the soaked n drained chana dal fry lighly and add crushed garlic,chopped ginger,curry leaves,green chillies fry them lightly.
  • And add sliced onions,sprinkle some salt and saute till onions turns soft and add the chopped tomatoes and saute till mushy.
  • Now add the broccoli florets and turmeric powder and fry for 2-3 minutes.
  • Then add the mashed potatoes ,enough salt and mix everything well and saute for 1 minute.
  • Then add the chana soaked left over water and cook covered for few minutes.
  • Lastly add  the curry powder and cilantro ,mix well and simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Thats it..broccoli potato masal is now ready for the masal roast.Can have with poori also.
  • Heat a tawa,when it gets hot... pour a ladle ful of batter and spread in circular motion..make it thin crepes.
  • drizzle some oil and cover the dosa with lid and cook till turns crisp then Keep 2 spoonful of masal in the center.
  • Then fold the both edges of the dosa or make a fold like triangle shape and remove from the tawa.
  • Serve the broccoli potato masal roast with coconut chutney and sambar.

  4. The dosa looks so good in the shape of triangle..I make cauliflower masala but broccoli masala is a nice idea.
