This summer vacation I got new friends in my neighborhood and to my surprise some of them were even my followers on Facebook . Their appreciation and motivation made me to realize my hard work which earned me some good followers & readers, so I don't want to loose and let my hard work get unnoticed. Thanks to my readers and followers for your support and special thanks to Divya of Divya's Tasty Recipes, Divya you never failed to encourage me, with all my friends support and motivation I am so happy to be back.
For this Diwali, i prepared a list of few sweets & snacks recipes to try and share here. Starting with a simple and easy to make spicy and crunchy snack - Jalapeno Murukku. Murukku is one of the main and must snack in our Diwali menu. This time for a change tried a new flavor, this recipe was inspired by a store bought snack, Shri's Jalapeno Murukku which my kids liked it.
So. i wanted to try it at home when checked the ingredients it was same like my Rice Murukku with Jalapenos. Tried it few days back and it came out so good and not too spicy. It was right amount with good chilli(jalapeno) flavor. Now off to the recipe..

Jalapeno Rice Murukku Recipe
Prep Time :  10 Minutes | Cook Time : 25 Minutes
Recipe Category : Snack | Recipe Cuisine : Indian
Makes 1 and 1/2 cup
Ingredients
  1. Rice flour   2 cup(i used 160 ml cup)
  2. Roasted Gram Dal Flour/Pottu Kadalai maavu   1/2 cup
  3. Jalapeno   2 no.(seeds removed)
  4. Butter, softened    1.5 tsp
  5. Jeera/Cumin seeds      1 tsp
  6. Hing    1/4 tsp
  7. Salt   to taste
  8. Oil   as needed to deep fry
Method
  • Grind 3/4 cup of roasted gram dal/pottu kadalai into fine powder and keep ready.
  • Wash and cut Jalapeno in to two half and remove seeds and thick vein part, then cut into pieces and grind it with little water to a smooth paste.
  • Now in a mixing bowl, sift rice flour and gram dal flour and add it to the bowl, to it add hing, jeera, salt and mix well. Add butter and mix well with the flour.
  • Then add Jalapeno paste and mix well and using little water make it to a smooth and soft dough.
  • It need not to a tight dough, make it soft, smooth and loose dough.
  • Heat oil in a kadai to deep fry,
  • Now grease the murukku achu and fill it with dough, use star achu plate or any desired achu plate and squeeze the shaped murukku into the hot oil and fry in medium hot oil.
  • After 1-2 minutes turn other side and fry till the hissing sound stops and murukku turns light golden color. Once done remove from the oil and drain it in paper towel.
  • After cooling store the murukku in an air tight container.
Notes:
Instead of roasted gram dal flour you can also use besan flour/kadalai maavu.
The murukku is not much spicy, because of the butter the spiciness was reduced and has only flavor. If you grind with seeds and center vein part then it may be more spicy.
