Dates Payasam With Bread crumbs

Hooray !!! I am back to Blogging & here with an easy to make healthy dessert recipe- Dates Payasam with Breadcrumbs.  Almost 3 weeks I missed my little space & all my fellow bloggers n their recipes. Some good things to share, as I have mentioned in my previous post that my laptop got crashed and need to buy new one. I thought it gonna take some time to buy new computer because of the moving & related expenses but to my surprise V ordered new one within a week for me & I was so surprised and happy too.
Many  thanks to all my friends who really cared about me & this space during my absence. Really so happy that I got some special place Here :)
Coming to today's recipe, Dates Payasam with Bread crumbs....so simple and quick payasam. A nice way to consume more dates . Adding bread crumbs to payasam  gives rich taste n flavor. I learned this from my friend's Mom. She used to make milkmaid payasam with bread crumbs n dry fruits n nuts. I prefer mildly sweet payasam so please Adjust sugar to your desired sweet level and the following recipe will yield a mild sweet Payasam.

Ingredients
  1. Dates   1/4 cup(finely chopped)
  2. Milk    2 cups
  3. Water   1 cup
  4. Cardamom   3-4 no.s(crushed)
  5. Sugar    1/4 cup or as needed
  6. Plain Bread crumbs  3 Tbsp
  7. Cashew nuts n Almonds   3tbsp(chopped)
  8. Raisins     few
  9. Saffron    a pinch
Method
  • Boil milk and  keep aside.
  • Take a heavy bottomed or nonstick vessel, add chopped dates and one cup water.
  • Bring to boil and cook till dates turn soft n cooked.
  • Then using a spatula/spoon lightly mash the dates by stirring and add the boiled milk n pinch of saffron.
  • Mix the milk n dates mixture well and again boil it for 5 minutes.
  • Once it get thicken lightly add sugar and stir well...cook till sugar dissolves n raw smell leaves.
  • Now add cardamom powder and mix well, then add bread crumbs and keep stirring.
  • After 2 minutes turn off the stove and add ghee roasted nuts n raisins.
  • That's all...delicious dates Payasam with bread crumbs is ready to serve.
  • Serve hot or chilled...Chilled one tastes so good than the hot/warm payasam.

Notes.
You can also roast the bread crumbs lightly and add it .
After adding bread crumbs payasam will get thicken, so if it thickens more then add warm milk according to the desired consistency.
